Back in 1982, Journey was one of the biggest rock bands in the world, so it wasn't too surprising to see them make the jump into the world of video games.
Journey Escape for the Atari 2600 put you in control of the band as they tried to make it from the concert stage to their waiting Scarab Escape Vehicle. Sounds simple, right? Not quite. Along the way you had to avoid photographers, love-crazed fans, promoters, and other obstacles trying to slow you down.
One of the coolest features was hearing a short rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'" when you reached the stage. It may have been just a few notes thanks to the Atari 2600's hardware, but at the time it was a fun touch that made the game stand out.
Journey Escape wasn't the deepest game on the system, but it's become a memorable piece of 80s pop culture. It captured a time when rock music and video games were both exploding in popularity, creating a crossover that still gets talked about by retro gaming fans today.
